Art and Craft Show

RUN AS SLOW AS YOU CAN’ by TOILETPAPER – NMACC – Mumbai

Meandering through the often-overt, often-cryptic imageries that make up TOILETPAPER’s first showcase in the country, you start to see why India is the perfect place for their largest ever exhibit. With its storm of color and chaos, there is something oddly ‘Indian’ about an overwhelming, sensory deep dive into this multi-layered Italian fantasy. Curated by TRIADIC and spread thematically and dramatically across the four floors of Art House — Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre’s dedicated visual arts space — this is an experience best experienced.

The TOILETPAPER exhibit at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre promises a sensory deep dive into a multi-layered Italian fantasy, perfectly blended with India’s vibrant chaos and color. Immersing myself in the curated chaos and thematic spread across four floors, I found endless opportunities to capture striking compositions and narratives. It was a truly special experience, allowing me to document the captivating fusion of cultures and aesthetics through my lens.

Attending art shows was a magical experience, where I felt transported to different worlds with each new exhibit. It was during these formative years that I developed a keen eye for beauty and a deep appreciation for the power of visual storytelling. Now, as I navigate the bustling halls of art exhibitions with my camera in hand, I’m reminded of those childhood moments of wonder and awe. Each photograph I capture becomes a bridge between past and present, a testament to the enduring influence of those early encounters with art. The art show holds a special significance for me, evoking memories of my childhood experiences and igniting a passion for creativity that has shaped my journey as a photographer. As a child, I was always drawn to the world of art, spending hours lost in the colors and textures of paintings, sculptures, and installations. Moreover, my personal connection to art fuels my passion for photography, driving me to seek out moments of beauty and inspiration wherever I go. Whether it’s the play of light on a canvas or the intricate details of a sculpture, I’m constantly drawn to capture the essence of what I see, to freeze those fleeting moments in time.

Me and my two buddies from business school were buzzing with excitement for the art show. We were chatting away, speculating about what we’d see. It was like waiting for a movie to start, but way cooler. Amidst our anticipation, I couldn’t help but feel excited to explore the show through my lens and capture all the beauty we were about to encounter.
